THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS READING INTEREST, STUDENTS MOTIVATION, AND STUDENTS READING SKILL AT EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS IN SMP N 2 SIMO AT 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR
he aims of this research are to find out (1) the students reading interest at
eight grade students of SMP N 2 Simo in the 2019/2020 academic year, (2) the
students motivation at eight grade students of SMP N 2 Simo in the 2019/2020
academic year, (3) the students reading skill at eight grade students of SMP N 2
Simo in the 2019/2020 academic year.
This research was conducted on August 2020. The researcher took 29
students of SMP N 2 Simo as the sample. The instruments of this research were
questionnaire and test. The population of this research was the eight grade
students of SMP N 2 Simo in the 2019/2020 academic year. The sample is 29
students. the sampling that was used random sampling technique. To collect the
data of student reading interest, students motivation, and students reading skill,
the researcher used questionnaire and test. After collecting the data, the researcher
analyzing them in line with procedure of verifying the hypothesis. In analyzing
the data, the researcher used correlation formula technique namely the Pearson
Product Moment.
